Motif Challenge 2012

Barbara, from Made in K-Town, is organizing a Challenge for 2012. We will we making motif from the book "Beyond the Square: Crochet Motifs" by Edie Eckman.

I will be showing my progress in this page, so check it out once in a while.  Take note that I will be posting the latest motifs first, so the new ones will be the first you see.  I will not be doing them in order, but will write the number of the motif in the photo. (And the number in parenthesis is of my progress).

My Collection: CIRCLES
This is my collection of CIRCLE motifs.  I decided not make them all (…but who knows if I come back later to tackle some more).

I had planned to make a scarf with these motifs, but regretfully it did not work, mainly because they have very different sizes.  I tried to join them in free-form, and it worked to some extent…except that it did not wear well as a scarf.  I will have to think of something else…or just enjoy looking at them, for they are cute.

Note: I like how this motif looks, and it was easy to make...BUT, yes, there is a "but"... I did not like how BIG it turned out to be! It seems more like a doily than a motif. [I wonder if there are more like this one...???]

ALSO... Check Barbara's SHARED GALLERY, where other participants are linking their versions of the motifs.  It is so cool to see the different colors, yarns and hooks that can be used with the same patterns.

(ESP)  También hay una GALERÍA en español, gracias a Gloria Beatriz.  Pueden encontrarlo en su blog: Mossita Crochet.  Allí pueden apreciar los motifs de todas las participantes.

  1. Hi Ana!
I'm so excited that the Challenge has started now, and I think you've found a great way to present the motifs (I like the polaroid look of the pictures!) Don't you think it's interesting how different colors can change the look of a motif completely? I love how your first motifs turned out, and thanks for adding them to the gallery! The only thing I'm worrying about: I'm not sure, but I think you can link to the same url only once in an "inlinkz"-collection, so that might be a problem if you post them all on the same page. I have to check at inlinkz to see if it's possible to change the set-up.

    Have a great sunday!
